How To Shape and File Your Finger Picks

Tiptonic Finger Picks can be shaped and filed in exactly the same way that you would file a fingernail. Use an emery board, fine grit sandpaper, or buff to a shine to fine tune your picks to suit your playing technique.

Here are a few things to consider while shaping and filing your Finger Picks.

  • Tiptonic Finger Picks can be sanded with progressive grit sandpaper from 120 up to 2000 grit or higher if a glossy playing surface is preferred.
  • Picks can be filed while they are being worn, or when they are off. Avoid getting any sanding dust on the adhesive.
  • Clean dust and oils off of adhesive by wiping it with an isopropyl alcohol pad.
  • Use caution while filing in the area directly around the nail slot. Don’t file so deep that you cut into it.
  • The material is generally about 1 mm thick everywhere except for the tip where it is thicker. It is thinnest in the area around the cuticle.
  • The tip end directly in front of the nail slot is the thickest area. It gets thinner on the sides and top.
  • Tip – While filing, hold them up to a light to see the exact location of the slot. Use caution, particularly on the sides, and don’t file into the slot.
