Tiptonic Finger Picks Limited Edition Black Finger Picks

We are happy to announce a limited run of Black Finger Picks in all of our sizes! Currently we stock black Delrin for making the Activator case parts and Natural Delrin (white) for the picks. After a request from a customer, we made up a set of Black Finger Picks and were really excited about the way they look! The sound is identical since both are made from long wearing, great sounding Delrin, but the look is completely different. Black Delrin Picks can be sanded with high grit sandpaper and even buffed with a cloth wheel on a Dremel for a fast glassy finish.

NOTE: The smallest run of a Finger Pick size we can make on the CNC Mill is a 6″ row. Since we only make Black Finger Picks upon request, we greatly appreciate it if you order in the whole row of picks. We cut (10) picks out of a 6″ row in the shortest Pick Shape, Shape A. The rest are as follows; Shape B (8) picks, Shape C (6) picks, Shape D (8) picks, Shape E (7) picks, Shape F (6) picks, Shape G (5) picks, Shape H (7) picks, Shape J (6) picks, and Shape K (5) picks.

Pick Color Options

Early in the process when we first started designing our Finger Picks we used 3D printers to make quick prototypes to test. One upside to 3D printers is that there is a lot of colored materials to choose from. We often made them in black. We used some of these in the photo shoot for the website. Ultimately, the tone and dimensional stability of the 3D printed material is not as good as Delrin and we switched to Natural (white) Delrin for production when we launched in August, 2017. We are happy to introduce these Black Finger Picks in 2021.

Tiptonic Black Finger Picks are available for a limited time in hundreds of sizes. Find your sizes by using the Sizing Chart included with the Starter Kit. The Sizing Chart is printed on clear transparency film. Hold your nail under the Chart and find the Pick Outline Shape that matches your nail shape.

About our Finger Pick Sizes

The Number on the Pick is the Width of your fingernail in millimeters. To measure the width, place a ruler on flat on top of the nail and measure across right where the nail leaves the nail bed on each side. We want a snug press fit into the slot in the pick so that it grabs under the nail right here on each side. This is where your contact the string on the side of the nail. These points on each side are the only place the pick contacts the underside of your nail. The end of your nail can be long or short.

The letter is the Type of pick. For example, on pick size 12C, 12 mm is the Width, and the Type is C. The C Type pick has an inside profile to fit flatter nails. It has the same shape on the outside as Type J. Type J picks have an inside profile to fit nails that look more half round when viewed from the front. The third inside profile is P Type picks. These are for fingernails with a lot of curve from the cuticle to the tip when viewed from the side.

We also make many common modifications such as more inside height, or more curve from cuticle to tip.

The Starter Kit is required if you are new to Tiptonic Picks. Importantly, the Starter Kit includes a Sizing Chart so that you can dial in the perfect pick for each finger. In addition to a range of picks in your sizes, The Starter Kit also contains an Activator Case which is absolutely essential for rejuvenating the adhesive before each use.
